How to Manage Groups and Tags in Saner Cloud?

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Saner Cloud enhances the abilities of system administrators by simplifying the classification of resources, which aids in the organization of resources for remediation and patch management tasks. By grouping resources into logical categories, IT administrators gain a clearer understanding of their environment.

In addition to grouping, Saner Cloud offers extensive resource management capabilities through customizable tags. These tags consist of user-defined key-value pairs that allow administrators to classify resources based on specific attributes. This functionality simplifies the processes of searching, identifying, filtering, and managing resources.

Overall, the grouping and tagging features of Saner Cloud empower IT administrators to maintain a structured, organized, and secure environment.

Groups

Overview of Groups and Resources

IT administrators can ensure efficient resource management by gaining visibility and control over the resources in their environment from the centralized “Managed Resources” page in Saner Cloud.

Significance of Groups and their Types in Saner Cloud:

Groups simplify resource classification and supports system administrators to perform remediation or patch management tasks.

Different Categories of Groups Available within the Managed Resources Page:

— All Resources: Lists all the resources actively managed in Saner Cloud

— Unassigned Resources: Lists the resources for which operating system could not be conclusively determined

— All Groups: Shows both Default Groups (system-created) and Custom Groups (user-created)

Resource Management Tasks that IT Admins Perform from the “Managed Resources” Page:

1. Creating groups to organize resources

2. Assigning tags to resources for easy identification and classification

3. Removing resources as required

4. Accessing Other Resource Management Options

Access the “Managed Resources” Page in Saner Cloud

Follow the steps to access the Managed Resources Page:

Step 1: Log into Saner Cloud and choose the account you want to work with

Step 2: From the sidebar, click the Cloud Resources icon. Hover over the icon to see the name.

The Managed Resources page opens to perform the necessary tasks.

Create Groups to Organize Resources

Follow the steps to create a Group and organize resources efficiently:

Step 1: Initiate Group Creation

Click the Create Group icon on the top-right corner of the Managed Resources page. The pop-up window opens to provide the group details.

Step 2: [Mandatory]Name the Group

Key in the name of the group from the Group Name text box.

Step 3: [Mandatory]Describe the Group

Provide a brief description in the Group Description text box.

Make sure to provide a Name and Description for the Group.

Step 4: Define Group Criteria

Determine the criteria you want to apply for the group:

  • OR or AND condition
  • Use the + button to add multiple criteria or the – button to remove criteria.

Step 5: Choose the Resource Scope

Determine if the criteria applies to:

  • All Resources: Resources with the SanerNow Agent installed and active.
  • Unassigned Resources: Resources without the SanerNow Agent installed.

Step 6: View Matching Resources

Click the Show Devices button to list all devices matching the specified criteria.

Step 7[Optional]: Pin Resources to the Group

You have an option to pin the resource to the group. Just go ahead and turn on the Pin the resources checkbox. As a result, the system overrides other rules and permanently associates the resources to the group. To change groups or rules, you must unpin the resource. Select the Unpin option from the Manage Pin window.

Step 8: Complete Group Creation

Click the Create Group button to finalize the group creation process.

[Optional] If you want to clear the details and key in again, click the Reset button.

Edit or Delete Resource Groups

IT admins can modify the Custom Groups to meet any changing business needs. Both the “Default Groups” and “Custom Groups” are listed together under the “All Groups” section on the Managed Device page. However, “Default Groups” cannot be modified or deleted.

To Edit the Group Criteria:

Step 1: From the All Groups list, select the group you want to modify.

Step 2: Edit the Group Criteria:

  • To update the details, click the Edit(Pencil) icon under the Action column for the selected group
  • To add new criteria, click the + icon
  • To remove existing criteria, click the – icon
